What We Do

Our Work

As an organization focused on increasing access to and awareness of life-saving commodities for vulnerable groups, we undertake a range of activities to achieve our mission.

Here are some of our key undertakings:

Increasing access to and awareness of life-saving commodities for women and children

By focusing on women and children, who often face greater health challenges, ATMP strives to bridge the gap and improve healthcare outcomes through collaborative efforts with governments, healthcare providers and CSOs. By increasing access to and awareness of life-saving commodities, ATMP plays a crucial role in the continuum of care for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) with the goal of creating a brighter future for women and children.

IMPROVING AVAILABILITY, AFFORDABILITY, AND REDUCING STOCKOUT OF SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH COMMODITIES

By addressing barriers such as limited supply, high costs, and frequent stock outs, we can improve access to and availability of contraceptives, medicines to treat HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, and equipment to help women deliver babies safely. This requires implementing strategies such as strengthening supply chains and reducing production costs through subsidies, price negotiations and partnerships with manufacturers.

ADVOCATING FOR POLICY CHANGES

IMG-20180328-WA0016-800x600
Through advocacy for policy changes, we can implement effective systems that will address the critical needs of human resources for health and ensure the availability of affordable and timely supply of medicines and health commodities for everyone, especially women, girls, and vulnerable groups. Additionally, it is essential to prioritize women's access to contraception, as well as safe pregnancy, delivery, and neonatal care.

INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF LOCAL CSOS

By increasing and investing in the capacity building of local CSOs to effectively advocate for improved access to health commodities, we can create a more equitable healthcare system that addresses the diverse needs of communities. This can lead to improved availability, affordability, and utilization of essential health commodities, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for individuals and communities. CSOs play a vital role in advocating for the rights and needs of communities, particularly those who are marginalized or underserved.

FACILITATING ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN MULTI-STAKEHOLDERS

Strengthening multi-stakeholder engagement at the national and county levels is crucial for addressing the challenges related to financing, policy implementation, service delivery, and the reversal of negative Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) indicators. By bringing together government agencies, CSOs, healthcare providers, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders, we can foster collaboration, coordination, and collective action towards improving MNCH outcomes.

CONDUCTING EVIDENCE-BASED ADVOCACY

Conducting evidence-based advocacy is an essential component of our efforts to improve healthcare outcomes. We conduct regular studies and assessments to gather data on the availability, affordability, and accessibility of essential health commodities. By utilizing evidence-based approaches, we are able to identify gaps, highlight disparities, and present compelling arguments for the need to prioritize access to medicines and health commodities. Through our advocacy efforts, we aim to create a healthcare system that guarantees equitable access to essential medicines and health commodities.
